I had an idea for a thing using PVC rather than coathanger wire and I still might build it to see if it works – but I also have a very bad record of ignorantly second-guessing people who know what they’re doing to my own detriment. So for this first iteration I decided to go with the basic and proven model.
I have to go to S&L’s this evening and that takes me right past Landlady’s so this will go into service soonest.
As Ben wrote: “Don’t forget the game camera.” It would be interesting to see how well the trap works.
Good luck! What are you using for bait? Peanut butter?
And yeah, I agree the game camera would be a good idea for this.
Yeah, peanut butter. Not going to start with the camera, but I’ll look around and see if there’s a place for it in the rather cramped space.
add about 1/4 full of water to the bucket, helps in keeping them in there
add a dash of dish soap. It helps drown them quicker.
Of course you could hook up a spark coil (or fence charger) to the water and a conveniently located ring about 1/2 inch above the water around the perimeter. bit of salt in the water to make better contact.
Full strength Prestone and it won’t stink as bad and will not evaporate as fast.
Any early results?
Nope. Not a single bite so far.
Maybe they’re secretly related to TB, and don’t like peanut butter!
