Tactical this, tactical that…

Hey, at least it starts with the number four.

Yesterday Uncle made the comment that the Taurus Judge had truly jumped the shark. And I’m not arguing – though a revolver you can load with .410 shotshells has a certain charm in snake country, mounting a rail on it and calling it “tactical” does seem a bit…well…

But jump the shark? C’mon, Unc. That shark is so far behind us, it ain’t never catching up.

“Tactical” has entered my personal list of words I reserve for “new and improved,” or “survival.” May once have had an objective meaning, but now they’re just marketing.

The only reason a snake needs killing is if its threatening to hurt your lifestock, pets or humans. Killing them simply on sight does not make sense to me.

My grandma used to kill rattlesnakes with her hoe when she was working her garden way long ago – you don’t need a .410 at all, though I don’t blame anyone for using it – Mr. No Shoulders gives me the Willys too. And in close quarters, having a handgun that is there NOW is highly rated, beats that firearm leaning over there or inside the truck or house by a mile.

Joel, This months SWAT magazine had a poor review of this revolver. Of course I only buy the magazine to read Clair’s wonderful articles but once in a while something interesting pops up.

SWAT is one of only two “gun” magazines that spends more time talking about software than hardware, thus making it one of the only two worth getting.

(Disclaimer: I write for the other one…)

I’m just curious as to when “tactical” and “.22LR” started going together?!?!?!
