For some reason my laptop has suddenly decided it doesn’t like to be connected to the hotspot, and I can’t figure out how to convince it to change its mind. I’m very slowly pecking this post out on the smartphone, which seems to work fine. I have some nice things for you, too. A review of “Basics of Resistance”, a post with lots of pictures about making a Jerry can vent out of a tire valve. We’ll test that tomorrow. But till I can get the laptop back on line I’m stuck. Sorry.

Scary Manifesto that keeps getting pushed down on the sidebar by filthy capitalism!
They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means "The Ultimate Argument of Kings," and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. "We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it's about: You'll do as I say or I'll send my goons to kill you."
I thought about that for a long time. If there's an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I've got bullets - he's got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that's not going to happen. So if there's an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain't bullets.
It finally came to me - and that's when I left the city, abandoned a goodly percentage of my goods, and gave all that was behind me a good, stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

Oh the wonders of technology and Mr. Murphy. Good Luck Joel!!
If memory serves, you are running Linnix. I would love to offer up suggestions on how you could get back on line, but sadly my knowledge of your operating system is zero. Good luck Joel.
Try disabling WiFi connection through device manager and then reconnecting
Is the hotspot plugged into the computer? I set one up wireless with a dlink, it kept dropping connection. Plugged it directly in a USB, it connects at 5G, stays charged, and has never dropped connection yet.
Tried that, Jerry. I can plug them together, and the laptop recognizes that it’s there but tells me it can’t connect.
Actually it only happened that once – but all day, no matter how often I came back. But then the next morning everything worked fine and it has worked fine ever since. Disconcerting.
