Everything’s cut, but the last couple by the door aren’t nailed down because I had a little oopsie…
🙁 I believe that’s what’s known in the carpentry trade as “piss poor planning.”
Fortunately I can make a hardware run tomorrow. And having gotten this bit under my belt, the bedroom proper will actually be quite simple. It came out 10′ 7″ long so I can alternate 8′ “planks” and then cut the smaller lengths to fit and stagger the seams.
My cuts aren’t all perfectly straight – you try holding a full sheet of plywood against a table saw fence all by yourself, if you get it perfectly straight I’ll stand there and applaud – but not half as bad as I feared. A little wood filler here and there and nobody will be the wiser. And anyway, as I said to somebody offline, this ain’t Donald Trump’s penthouse we’re talking about. You ought to see some of the carpentry in the original part of the cabin.
Congratulations on another job well done!
Well begun, maybe. Faaar from done.
The closet is effectively “done”. Nothing but punch-list items left there…

That actually looks pretty sweet. Way better than just sheets of plywood. Have you thought about toasting the surface with a propane torch to bring out the grain a bit before finishing? Probably an unacceptable fire hazard, though. Best pass on that.
But if he ‘toasted’ the surface before he laid it. Might be interesting.
Looks fantastic, Joel! So fantastic that I started looking around at plywood “plank” flooring for some of the future projects that await me. I really, really, really like both the idea and the execution.
Will be interested to see how well it holds up.

Been there, done that. Don’t recommend it. When I was doing it somewhat regularly, I got pretty good at it. Still, looks as if you got good results. Particularly considering that saw you were using. I do like the look of that floor.
A lot of people will disbelieve that you can do rounded cuts on a table saw. 🙂 Both you and I can prove them wrong.
And sometimes, jed, some of those “rounded” cuts may even be intentional!
