I always say I’m going to remember this next year, and every year I forget. In my defense I also forget about Christmas, so what can I say. I’m a hermit.
But Commander Zero – being the person who invented the holiday – always remembers.
And this year he sent me a Paratus gift I’ll remember…
Among some other things that will go into the Jeep kit for a theoretical rainy day, a whole box of Blazer .44 Special! This stuff recently re-appeared on the shelves of the one gun shop within 50 miles of the Lair, but at a price that makes it more of a collector item than shooting ammo. But it remains my favorite commercial ammunition – and in terms of “will definitely go bang every single time” it’s always best to carry your pistol loaded with commercial ammo if you can get it. Not my fault .44 Special has become a unicorn caliber.
Thanks, CZ!
I have a crapload of .44 Special leftover from bygone times. Are you saying it’s actually valuable now?
More valuable than it was in bygone times, for sure.
I agree with your assessment of the .44 Spcl. It is a neglected round that deserves more attention. I’m guessing that the popularity of the .45LC / .45 ACP has stolen a lot of ‘big slow bullet’ users.
That was a great gift – well done CZ !
It’s not only .44 SPL. that’s a problem to get. .38 and .357 Magnum are getting pretty thin on the ground around here too. I thank my lucky stars that a contact with emergency services gave me a heads-up on the potential severity of the COVID to the supply chain back in early 2019. After his warning, I picked up a couple of cases of .357, 5.56MM and .22LR. Since then, the prices for this stuff has doubled and .357/.38 has gotten real scarce.
Yeah. Down here all revolver ammo dried up completely, including the common stuff like .357. Funny how after a couple of years of that, being known as the neighborhood reloader suddenly makes you more interesting. 😀
