I’ve contemplated a follow-up think post about the Muslim/terrorism debate, and finally decided I’m too conflicted and clueless to rate an opinion, much less to expect people to read about it. So go read this instead.
Larry Correia is a conservative and so has a bit higher expectation of cops and soldiers than I do, but in most other ways he’s quite a solid thinker. On the matter of the big picture, everything else having been said, he draws pretty much the same conclusion I do:
Solution? Beats the hell out of me.
But on the personal level, if you haven’t already taken care of providing for your own and your family’s defense you’re out of procrastination room. What happened in a music theater in Paris and a shopping mall in Nairobi may very well be coming to a venue near you, and it could happen at any time, and it will not give notice, and no cop or security guard will be there to save you.
On the personal, local level, this is another example of why you should carry a gun. No, we don’t expect every permit holder to be a Navy SEAL, just a speed bump. The best way to stop a mass shooter is an immediate violent response. At best, you drop them before they can hurt too many people. At worst, congratulations you were a distraction, but even distractions can save lives or derail plans.
You can have Paris or Arlington, and you get to choose! But it does take training and practice.
