I’m growing very tired of these people.

Here’s another old guy in a dress who wants you to know how unmutual he thinks gunhuggers are.

Pope Francis on Monday lashed out at the “brazen” freedom with which weapons circulate in the world when compared with numerous obstacles to distributing aid.

Now he’s supposed to be the wisest guy in the world with a direct line to god, so I shouldn’t presume to lecture him on logic or morality. But I’m just brazen like that, so Lo! Joel doth open his unhallowed piehole unto the Pontiff, and doth speaketh thusly:

The blame for atrocity lies squarely on those who commit atrocious acts, on those who order them, enable them, and condone them. Only a witless fool lays the blame on the tools they use, as if one could say that in this case the jihadi’s guns were evil but the cops’* guns were righteous and good. If it actually makes sense to you that guns (or knives or hatchets or shovels, and I have killed with all those things) can be good or evil in themselves, you have either not thought this through or you have convinced yourself of evil things.

On the contrary – the “brazen freedom” here is that one man can walk into a room containing hundreds of other adults, no matter how sensitive and/or artistic those adults may be, and brazenly slaughter them with nobody able to raise a hand in self-defense. That is so absurd that it had me grinding my teeth in anger when I contemplated it yesterday. Who made it so? Who arranged that all those people, outnumbering their attacker hundreds to one, were helpless as rabbits?

The evil man will always have a weapon. Where is the morality in insisting that the innocent must remain helpless?

*and oh by the way, here we had a SWAT team that actually showed up and did what we were always told SWAT teams were designed to do, rather than just kicking some unarmed frood’s door in at 2 AM and waving guns around. So kudos for that.

About Joel

You shouldn't ask these questions of a paranoid recluse, you know.

Not only is the “Pope” an idiot, he has zero authority from anywhere to make such pronouncements…

The “SWAT” guys waited for hours while people died, bled out if nothing else, before they made a move.

Even ONE of those intended victims, if armed, could have changed that drastically… but all those “law abiding” people seemed to prefer being victims. I seriously doubt there would have even been an attempt at such slaughter if the jihadhead had thought for a moment there would be even one to resist him… Just imagine if it were known that many – if not most – of those in the club WERE indeed armed!

I’m Catholic, but see no sense in words which blame inanimate objects for the actions done by human beings bent on destruction and death. It might be that the weight of the Pope’s hat is constricting the blood vessels which lead to the brain . . .

“The blame for atrocity lies squarely on those who commit atrocious acts,…” Amen Brother!
“Only a witless fool lays the blame on the tools they use,…” Amen, Brother, tell it like it is!
“The evil man will always have a weapon. Where is the morality in insisting that the innocent must remain helpless?” Preach it, Brother!

The mental gymnastics the human mind can go through, to justify, one’s point of view never ceases amazes me.

    Very well said Joel.

One of your best Joel. Mark it to include in your next book. BTW what is the status of your book?

  6. Joel says:

Oh, it’s been done for over a year. Unfortunately it ended in an unsaleable product. The file is YUGE.

It may distress his poopliness to hear that a certain Asian chick’s old man accompanies her to the local establishment of the holy roman hypocrisy armed to the teeth.
He’d probably soil his holy undies over it, until some loon came in with an AK and a tiny disregard for human, in particular Catholic, life.
Then he may be happy said redneck was there with his gun and too much scary training.
Never can tell with this pope. He’s kind of an idiot.
