I had to go to Wal-Mart today. For the first time in years.
And it was loud. And there were too many people. And I got through it okay this time, really, didn’t actually hyperventilate at any point, but I was never happier to see my ride home show up.
Started to say “Oh, yeah? try it on welfare check friday!” Oh, this is friday. Nevermind.
Distilled water has been habitually absent from our usual supermarket, but Walmart has plenty of the stuff, for half the price I’m used to paying.
It pays to shop.
I went to walmart today as well. It was packed with people wandering aimlessly. I wondered if they were those spacey people who have traveled from afar to view the eclipse. We are expecting thunderstorms Monday and if that happens there will be some unhappy financially insulted visitors and local businesses.
Like you Joel, I’m not a fan of big crows in smaller places. As for Walmart, I can’t remember the last time I was in one. These days, I try to shop small, local retailers, and when they don’t have what I need, then it’s Costco where the prices, at least around here, are a bit better.
I don’t “shop”. I know what I’m there to buy, find it, grab it, pay, and leave. Period.
Kentucky
Kentucky: Yeah, even though I knew I had time on my hands the thought of casually shopping never crossed my mind. I had a list, I had a general notion of the layout of the place, and I had a mission. I spent more time waiting for exfil than I did accomplishing the mission. 🙂
Walmart is not bad as long as you go at the right time of day.
Any time between 7 AM and 11 AM should be fine.
The freaks are rarely awake between those times.
