microburst

We had a change of weather yesterday morning so extreme it changed my plans for the whole day. The sky looked promising when I got up, clearing if not exactly clear, and I figured I’d have no trouble at all getting Battery Day out of the way which was already a day late.

And then seemingly within fifteen minutes or so the sky turned black, it started to rain, the temperature fell almost twenty degrees and then the wind went into Topple All the Things mode. If it was vertical, the wind wanted it horizontal. If it was already laying down the wind wanted it laying someplace else. I had to meet D&L for a quick Saturday trip to town, did it bundled up against a storm, and by the time we got to town it was sunny and warm again.

But our quicky microstorm hadn’t just been in the Gulch. There were tree limbs broken off and scatterable stuff scattered all over town, too. So I guess it was more like a macroburst. 🙂

Got a few things done as the day progressed, but never really did get back on schedule. Plus the sky stayed upset, it seemed, since it was one of those weird days when my satellite modem wouldn’t stay connected.

So anyway, today is battery day two days late. Plus I’d like to do a load of laundry while the weather’s nice, if it stays nice. Then this afternoon I need to bake because I’m invited to S&L’s for dinner and don’t want to go emptyhanded. So all in all a busy day planned, but I’m well. Later.

The weather is kinda getting a bit strange isn’t it? We have been getting more thunderstorms with the occasional tornado tossed into the mix for laughs. In the winter we have been getting more things like ice storms taking place too. Makes me very glad I don’t have the 130 kilometer commute anymore. Strange days indeed.
