Scary Manifesto that keeps getting pushed down on the sidebar by filthy capitalism!
They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means “The Ultimate Argument of Kings,” and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. “We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it’s about: You’ll do as I say or I’ll send my goons to kill you.”
I thought about that for a long time. If there’s an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I’ve got bullets – he’s got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that’s not going to happen. So if there’s an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain’t bullets.
It finally came to me – and that’s when I abandoned the city and most of my stuff, and gave all that was behind me a good stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

Winter tries to win back its self-respect, can’t quite pull it off…
So for nearly two weeks we’ve had May-like weather around here. Unfailingly sunny. Nights above freezing. Afternoons in the breezy seventies. In February. Absurd. Granted that prior to those two weeks this had been an relatively cold and wet winter, … Continue reading
Special from ML: “Yes, I Love My Guns…And Here’s Why.”
I’m pretty sure this is still banned in Mississippi, ML. 🙂 Some recent comments on various message boards frequented by shooters indicate that a few people are either changing their minds or are bowing to the politically correct pressure of … Continue reading

Hey, you guys know Chris Byrne of AnarchAngel?
If you have enjoyed his blog, go read this.
Hmph. I gather somebody shot somebody else, not around here…
I can tell because I opened up Yahoo, planning to check the Official TUAK Email Address, and was assaulted by Gunz’R’Bad. Well, it’s a slow afternoon, I had to hang around inside until the bread was out of the oven, … Continue reading
Sunny and headed for 70
A couple of days ago it was cloudy – and in the seventies. We discussed it over the breakfast table at S&L’s this morning; Three weeks ago we got our last good snowfall, the final remnants of which only melted … Continue reading
Wouldn’t it be funny if both parties end up running George McGovern?
The 1972 prez election was the first one I ever remember getting excited about. All through the primary season, everybody I knew* was certain McGovern was going to be the guy, and McGovern was the only anti-war candidate. He got … Continue reading

Two Point Five!
It has been my observation that three RIR laying hens are just a tiny bit more than enough to keep one guy, who likes to eat eggs, in eggs. And three is what I currently have. Since two is one … Continue reading
And here’s Joel’s first sheath.
Considering how critical I am of some other people’s attempts at practical knife sheaths, it’s a little hypocritical of me that I never had the balls to try it myself. This is my very first such effort ever, with no … Continue reading
Hey, look, I made a thing.
Somehow or other I managed to lose my favorite chicken-butchering tool, a teensy Victorinox paring knife. The fatal combination of some money in my pocket and a love of good knives caused me to do something a little rash at … Continue reading

So that’s what happened…
For most of my life I’ve heard about this thing called an SAT test. And it seems logical, given the timeline, to assume that at some point in my laughable or lamentable high school ‘career’ I sat down in a … Continue reading

Life and Death Decisions…

Let us now praise Alexander Cummings
Scotsman, watchmaker, instrument designer, he became one of the great unsung benefactors of mankind when in 1775 he patented a design for the first practical flush toilet. Today I got the plumbing parts needed to actually connect my new ivory … Continue reading
Calling Barack Obama hypocritical is like noting that a cloudless sky is blue…
Normally a pointless redundancy, but sometimes it simply needs to be stated. President Obama’s expressed hope today in his weekly address “that we can avoid the political posturing and ideological brinksmanship that has bogged down this (Supreme Court nomination) process, … Continue reading
