Scary Manifesto that keeps getting pushed down on the sidebar by filthy capitalism!
They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means “The Ultimate Argument of Kings,” and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. “We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it’s about: You’ll do as I say or I’ll send my goons to kill you.”
I thought about that for a long time. If there’s an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I’ve got bullets – he’s got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that’s not going to happen. So if there’s an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain’t bullets.
It finally came to me – and that’s when I abandoned the city and most of my stuff, and gave all that was behind me a good stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

There have been a couple of very generous donations on TUAK’s Paypal account, which will help get me out of hock to my Internet provider for a couple of months. Thanks!
Around here there’s a rifle behind every blade of grass. Both of’em!
A couple of days ago Claire broke some alarming news… Remember how officials and media in the statist-states released data and maps showing the locations of known gun owners? Well, now Montana has issued its own gunowner map. Wyoming is … Continue reading
Moving in!
Spent part of the morning over at D&L’s. They’ve been assembling furniture. A lot. One of the things that always struck me about D&L is that they know where they want to spend money. Unlike me, they carefully planned and … Continue reading

Proposition: The Constitutional Right To Bear Arms Has Outlived Its Usefulness
The voting is not going the way I’m sure those who did the proposing would have wished. 613 for/38368 against, as of this posting. Which probably doesn’t mean anything other than that gun owners are more likely to follow a … Continue reading
Murphy’s Law of Stupid

Even Tacticaler, Redux
Got an email from Ian this afternoon with the photo he showed me yesterday. FG42 – the perfect rifle, perfected. Want. That. Bad.
Are you serious? Are you serious?
I keep looking for the parody tell, because I hate it when I get taken. But as far as I can see this is completely serious. Thanks to Obamacare, Colorado has a new online insurance marketplace called “Connect for Health … Continue reading
The world’s most perfect tactical rifle, now even tacticaler

Saving the world from people who insist on living off-grid

So this week, through a couple of paying gigs, I found myself with $120 in my pocket. It’s one of the rare times this summer that that has happened. At some point, the kitty can get so low that even … Continue reading
Now, see, this is funny.
There’s a picture that’s been making the rounds all day. And it looks like somebody’s really being a bunch of assclowns, right? The context is evil, intimidating redneck gun owners outside an anti-gun meeting. And if that’s really what’s going … Continue reading
