Scary Manifesto that keeps getting pushed down on the sidebar by filthy capitalism!
They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means “The Ultimate Argument of Kings,” and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. “We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it’s about: You’ll do as I say or I’ll send my goons to kill you.”
I thought about that for a long time. If there’s an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I’ve got bullets – he’s got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that’s not going to happen. So if there’s an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain’t bullets.
It finally came to me – and that’s when I abandoned the city and most of my stuff, and gave all that was behind me a good stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

Here’s something I’ll bet you’ve never done!
D: Have you ever used a weed-whacker? Me: Not on a wall. D’s still getting over his knee surgery, and D&L are way behind schedule. They’re building a very elaborate 4000 sq ft house, whose outside walls are constructed entirely … Continue reading
No media bias here. Nuh-uh. Nope.
I followed an InstyLink to this “news” article whose writer was shocked! Shocked! To find discourtesy and profanity directed toward our public masters servants! WMUR reported on a visibly upset Concord resident who recounted to the Criminal Justice Committee how … Continue reading
NOOOOO! (Weeps, wails, gnashes teeth…)
I HAD ONE OF THESE! SOME GUY THREW IT IN ON A TRADE! AND I THREW IT IN ON ANOTHER TRADE BECAUSE I DIDN’T WANT TO STOCK .22 HORNET! (sob) $2100.00, untraceable. I will now go and hang myself.
I Dreamed I Saw MamaLiberty Last Night, as Live as You or Me
I met ML on the highest ridgetop near the Gulch, and she spake unto me the words she left in comments a couple of days ago: Well, we already do know the solution, Joel. It is self government, and self … Continue reading
I’m really gonna miss this guy.
Da Maya holds a presser, and nobody will ask the right questions. Hilarity ensues. Back when I was in Detroit we had Mayor-for-life Coleman Young, who brought corruption and racism to appalling, embarrassing and yet somehow highly entertaining levels. … Continue reading
AARG!! I’m enormously bummed.
I did the one single most stupid thing you can do with a chainsaw…that doesn’t involve blood and missing limbs. I left a little, tiny bit of gas in the tank. It’s been a month or so since I cut … Continue reading
If MADD won’t have her, she can always join Hypocrites’R’Us.
This picture cries out for a caption contest. “Don’t you know who I am?” Former president of MADD arrested on DUI charge A former president of the defunct local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving was arrested recently by the … Continue reading
Reading early in the morning makes me gloomy.
The big problem with “wars of liberation,” as I have read about them, isn’t the wars themselves. Oh, the wars bring all the usual problems, of course: Death, maiming, destruction, trauma, chaos, atrocity, horror, heartbreak. Bad stuff. But the real … Continue reading
A pox on both your houses…
…says Walter Block. I favor the union thugs, not the government thugs. For me, it’s like Stalin versus Hitler: a pox on both of them. But, I like to root for the underdog, the weaker of the two bad guys, … Continue reading
What a gyp…
I thought the winter storm we’d been promised was going to be a complete no-show. It was supposed to roll in overnight, I woke up around 2 and the sky was completely clear. Went back to sleep an hour or … Continue reading
Just bitching about the weather…
I keep reminding myself that this has actually been a fairly dry and mild winter. It’s not working. Okay, we had two cold snaps that would have killed lesser mortals than myself, and the second one drove me right out … Continue reading

Blogs Wane as the Young Drift to Sites Like Twitter To be fair, the article doesn’t exactly proclaim the death of the blog, however much people at the NYT might love to. The social sites like Twitter and Facebook serve … Continue reading

Project Gunwalker has finally hit the MSM
CBS published a short piece here yesterday. Fox News has sniffed cautiously around it. “Policy of Silence,” indeed. David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh have beaten this drum for months, carefully unnoticed by any of the so-called “news media,” and it … Continue reading

On this front, at least, we’re winning.
Vermont’s always had it, to my great surprise. Alaska’s got it. Arizona’s got it – to my very great surprise. Wyoming’s working on it, the only surprise being why it took so long. And now – of course – Montana. … Continue reading
Hm. I hate these people, and yet…
The whole Wisconsin teachers rioting in the street thing…you know, it makes me want to puke. It’s all so nakedly greedy and foul, and of course I’m old enough – and from Detroit enough – to understand viscerally that “union” … Continue reading
