Babies are settling in…

All day yesterday only one pullet came downstairs, all the others preferred to hide in the dark, hungry and thirsty. Then right after dinnertime one other decided she’d had enough of that. By first light they were all down in their little yard, eating and drinking quite healthily.

Must have had a bad night in between, though. Their first night in a world that had an ‘outdoors,’ of course there had to be a huge thunderboomer with lots of rain to welcome them. Fortunately Rhode Island Reds are pretty much born crazy, so it’s impossible for childhood trauma to make matters any worse.

Oh, and I note a couple of people have hit the tip jar. Thanks for that! Things have been a bit slim around here.

Those critters really grow fast! I can’t imaging how many of your pellets they must be eating to make that happen. How long until they start laying their first little “practice” eggs?

Oh, they get a free ride for several months.
