Because when nothing much is going on here at the Gulch – which is the way I like it – then I need to come up with filler. That’s all most of the political TUAK posts are, just filler between ‘day in the life’ posts. That’s the problem I’ve always had writing TUAK: On a good day, nothing worth mentioning happens. How many times can I write about laundry?
So I spend hours doing what every blogger does – I scour news items for things that interest or anger or amuse me, here’s one, and then I write about that. You’d think the news of the past week would be target-rich indeed, and indeed it is – but it’s also boring. Same! Same old arguments, same old demands, same old responses. Boring. This is how gun blogs die, I think. They start to bore their creators.
TUAK is not a gun blog, though it does seem that’s all I’ve written about lately. Nor, I think, is it in danger of slow death. But I must confess, not much is going on worth mentioning.

The faithful will not abandon you for missing a couple of days of free ice cream.
At least just give us an “I got nothin’ ” to let us know you’re OK.
Most of us got nothin’ anyway, so it won’t come as a big shock.

Here’s something…
US FBI to launch new system for counting people killed by cops
December 9, 2015
Source: The Guardian [UK]
“The FBI plans to overhaul its system for counting the number of deaths caused by police in the US, according to federal officials, and will begin releasing information about deadly encounters involving the use of Tasers and other force, in addition to fatal shootings. Responding to months of sharp criticism over its existing program for reporting fatal shootings by police officers, the bureau is to unveil a new system that will publish a wider range of data, resembling that currently collected by an ongoing Guardian investigation.” (12/09/15)

Now, seems to me that a far better idea would be for cops to quit killing people… but what do I know?
What Kentucky said!

Hey, I hear ya. Boring!
If it makes you feel any better, look at this:

When blogging gets too boring, you could always knit chicken sweaters.

What Ben said. Oh, FOMCL and ROTF. Selfies of you knitting – we’d look forward to that. Your rooster in a hand knit sweater. There’s endless entertainment and interesting stuff in your lifestyle that you could write about. Many of us live out of the mainstream, but probably not many live the life of a hermit in the desert and it’s fun to read about. Sometimes I’m too busy keeping things going to stop and look and think. When you question what you are doing and why, it’s an opportunity for us to look at our lives and ask the same questions. I’ve gotten a lot of useful information and ideas from your blog. There’s someone already selling chicken sweaters on etsy, and a calendar of chickens in sweaters, which tells you both would sell. On boring winter days and long winter nights you could knit chcken sweaters and do your own thing about a calendar. I think Ben just gave you a great income stream idea.
So it’s not just me, good to know.
Maybe you just needs to get you a can o’ spray paint and practice yer artistry on the cattle? How about “COW” in big yellow letters on one? And maybe “SUCKER” on a not-yet-weaned calf? Then there’s always “NO” on one side, and “BULL” on the other. Do, however, limit yerself to the cows and calves, and stay away from dat bull.
They won’t stand still to let you paint them, you say? Try a bucket with a little corn in it. Approach from upwind. Place bucket in front of them, and paint away. Then pick up bucket and move to next “canvas”.

*laughing* Sometimes the comments are just perfect after a long day 😀
Mark Matis – are you my brother-from-another-mother???
What about starting some posts on what goes through your dogs’ minds?
Your sense of humour could really have fun with that!
I do agree with Zelda said too – your blog is a way for us wannabes and Doomsday-preppers-wannabes to see what it’s ACTUALLY like. (I’m still 50-50 on the idea, despite debating it with the boyfriend for the last two years)
Chocs.
Not just for the wannabes. Those of us who’ve BTDT find it fascinating to discover just how much fun and intrigue we were having without even realizing it. Imagine me thinking chickens were just uninteresting critters doing nothing noteworthy or newsworthy. I think Joel should broaden his horizons and get a milk goat or two. Now they’re interesting.
Not a milk goat or two, coloradohermit. A cow or two. After all, they already ARE wandering around your neighborhood. Add a couple of his own to the mix. But make sure you identify them as yours. Branding would be best, but you could always go with the spray paint instead. Name one “Hillary” and the other “Huma” and I expect the cowboys dealing with the REST of the herd would be glad to take care of them for you. And just think of all the fun you could have training Ghost and LB to be Border Collies!

By the way, MamaLiberty, the FedPigs could probably start here:
http://www.killedbypolice.net/
but then that would be too simple for anyone as “professional” as Federal “Law Enforcement” in this country. Not to mention the fact that it would be more difficult for them to hide the ones they don’t want exposed…
