1: What is the proper term for the big gasket that’s supposed to run across the bottom edge of the rear glass? (Conspicuously not present in the photo above)
2: Where can I order a new one?
It’s been slowly dying for months. Two days ago while bashing through the wash it expired, and now the rear window won’t stay closed. It’s freaking my stupid agoraphobic dog right out, and clearly must be fixed before Monsoon.

Google tells me it’s an “OPR Lower Glass Liftgate Seal” Google search term: big gasket at bottom of jeep rear window.
Now I’ll be seeing ads for these for a month.
you try here, cost nothing to look. https://www.4wd.com/
https://parts.moparonlineparts.com/
This site has served me well.
Wow – costs nothing to look, but it would cost half a fortune to buy.
Time to put my Improviser Joel hat on.
Thanks, guys. Turns out that information was consistent with what I saw on Amazon.
Is this:

really that expensive?
Rock is your friend.
Actually that’s just a little more than half as much as the others I’ve seen online, MM.
They are a good first place to check when you need car parts. They carry a wide range, from junk to install just so you can unload the car to some unsuspecting sucker, to top-of-the-line for long term use. They put a little red heart symbol next to the parts they sell most often for a particular application. I generally start by checking them and getting part numbers and prices, then hit the local auto parts stores web sites to see if they carry anything other than house brand, and if their prices are even remotely competitive. I’m willing to spend extra to be able to walk to the Advance Auto Parts that’s 1/2 mile away if I find I need something in the middle of a repair job, but there’s a point beyond which I’ll Rock the purchase. Especially if all the locals only have house brand. My success with those products has been “memorable”…
Go look up Steele Rubber Products and find some bulk gasket with the right shape and buy 10′ and some glue. I repaired the engine compartment gasket on my daughers car for a few dollars versus what Chrysler wanted https://www.steelerubber.com/universal-parts
Try this website: http://www.omix-ada.com. You can search by parts diagram also
$20:

That’s the part I asked about all right. But mostly in response to an email from Mark M. (To which I can’t directly respond for some reason) I had another look at the part, and there’s nothing wrong with the actual gasket. The part that broke is a plastic piece running the width of the lift gate and securing the gasket to the glass.
So far I haven’t been able to find that part on a diagram or list.
Supposedly D4085 includes the plastic retainer:

And I think last time you were using .com instead of .net
If it does, Mark, then that’s the replacement part. But what I’m looking at isn’t nearly as flexible as the part in that catalog photo.
My recommendation would be to contact Quadratec, describe your situation to them, and ask their recommendation. I realize don’t like phoning it in, but a conversation can make short work of a problem like you’re describing. And their pricing doesn’t seem to be that bad.
