This is a red-letter day!

Got the new glasses, and this puts an official end to the whole cataract episode at long last. Only took about a year and a half. 🙂

Still need to keep up with the glaucoma meds, of course, that won’t stop. But as of today, I only have to deal with ophthalmologists every six months, as opposed to every other week or more. Yay!

Heartfelt thanks to everybody who pitched in to bring it about.

About Joel

You shouldn't ask these questions of a paranoid recluse, you know.

So how is your vision now? With and without the glasses.

  4. Joel says:

I’ve gone without glasses for weeks, and my distance vision is still better than it was with my old glasses before the surgery. But it is a bit fuzzy; clearly I did need glasses even for distance. Close in, my uncorrected vision is utterly hopeless. That sweet spot of perfect vision I always had an inch from my face is gone, and I’ve never quite gotten used to it.

The new glasses are great. My distance vision is completely sharp now. At reading distance, where the bifocals kick in, it’s also very good. There’s a spot between far and near vision that’s a bit fuzzy with the glasses, suggesting that I might have wanted to try trifocals. But I always need an adjustment period with new glasses before my head just sort of naturally knows how to tilt and everything seems natural.

    All in all, I’m delighted.

    Glad to hear!

Oh, btw, I think as long as it’s not a red line day, you’ll be good to go. 😉
