And day by day this pathway smooths…

…since first I learned to love it.

Winter must be coming; the phone rang and people wanted me to haul off pallets and junk wood.

Last winter I didn’t use half my cut firewood, so this autumn will be an easy one for cutting. I’m gonna fill my nice new woodshed, and then it can glaciate for all I care. I’ll have the woodstove and a winter’s worth of wood already cut, and even a backup propane furnace for when the nights are really cold.

Obviously before that happens I need to get the addition insulated and walled inside, but that’s going to start in a week. Things don’t start getting seriously cold here till middle or late November, most years. Plenty of time to finish the room and get moved in.

I’m feeling pretty good about this. 🙂

Just remember, you’re heating like twice the volume this winter, although you don’t have an additional tall ceiling to absorb more heat.

    Ceiling fan there will help.

I can’t wait to see cool pix of your NEW! IMPROVED! home, especially the new bedroom and it’s new heat source. I bear some personal guilt for that first horrendous winter you spent in the provisional lair, and I’m happy for many reasons to see you finally making winter (mostly) comfortable for yourself.

Thanks to all who helped make it happen, whether their contribution involved money, work, or the wildly interesting array of supplies that arrived in care packages.

Hate to break this to you but Montana is expecting snow next few days and that cold pocket should reach us here in Michigan some time next week, no snow yet for me but I think we are in for an early winter according to the almanac,I do think they are right this year for a number of reasons. Get your insulation in as soon as you can, drywall and trim can follow later. Also get that gas heater installed then go chopping up pallets.;-)

Snow here this weekend, started tonight. Won’t stay yet, but still snow. And cold. Wow Joel, what a great job you’ve done!! It’s amazing and encouraging to see your progress.
