Augh – Summer’s first grassfire is here.

Or – well, not here here. Somewhere far upwind.

Normally they don’t bother me…

…but on top of my allergy woes this is a misery. My eyes are so sore and swollen I can barely see.

Are local grass fires a concern? I doubt if you have a friendly neighborhood fire station.

  2. Joel says:

No, the grassfires are always on the plains to the west of us. We have a lot more bare dirt than grass, so while lightning does occasionally set a dead juniper on fire it never spreads.

    Upwind is a good thing.
It’s exciting to be wilderness camping when there’s a forest fire and it might, or might not, be headed your way.

I’m sure you’ve had dozens of over-the-transom suggestions for allergy pills, but I’ll add another. I have the same damn problem with my eyes, and I discovered that anything with cetirizine hydrochloride works incredibly well.

    YMMV.
