They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means “The Ultimate Argument of Kings,” and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. “We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it’s about: You’ll do as I say or I’ll send my goons to kill you.”
I thought about that for a long time. If there’s an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I’ve got bullets – he’s got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that’s not going to happen. So if there’s an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain’t bullets.
It finally came to me – and that’s when I abandoned the city and most of my stuff, and gave all that was behind me a good stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

I wonder if Guv Inslee, or anybody else, can tell us how many people have ever been killer, shot, or have used a ‘ghost gun’ from an 80% lower….
I bet the answer is very likely ZERO or close to it, but by golly we’re gonna ban ’em….
It can be made to sound scary to the easily alarmed, and so it’s a useful concept. Whichever of these parasites first came up with “ghost gun” ought to get a Nobel.
Because we all know that criminals and crazies abide by all the laws.
So if I were to go out to my little shop and build 100% of a gun from scratch raw materials… I’d be a criminal ? Yeah right…
Someone should get the Governor a copy of Unintended Consequences by John Ross. If things like Ghost Guns frighten him now, after reading that book he will positively crap himself.
IIRC, federal law allows personal manufacture of a firearm – does not need to be serial numbered, no Form 1 required, but cannot ever be sold, gifted or bequeathed, however, without an approved Form 1 (which will require a permanent manufacturer ID, serial number and caliber on the firearm, and monies/time devoted to BATFE processes). Kinda like the feds allowing production of up to 200 gallons of distilled spirits for personal use.
So, there’s time, money and effort involved to correct, but this seemingly can be corrected. Or, more likely, just completely ignored (but keep your lawyer’s number on speed dial).
The official TUAK AK is in that category, having been built from a parts kit at a build party back when those were cost-effective a dozen years ago. At present my only request upon my death is that it be buried with my ashes – slathered in Cosmoline, in an anti-corrosion sheath I already possess, wrapped in heavy plastic and Gorilla Tape with a box of magazines known to my friends and marked “Don’t unwrap till the Apocalypse.”
