…and only just over this night did we get our first official snowfall…
…and it’s barely more than a dusting that will be gone in an hour if we get any sun at all.
Walking along the wash I saw something I thought was kind of interesting…
That bank only formed in late July during a big flood that cut a whole new channel in the wash: It started out completely vertical and has been eroded by wind ever since, so the sand on the ramp is really soft: So soft that even a layer of snow on top caused it to slide in places all along the line.
That’s more snow than I’ve seen so far this year at the foot of “Americas” mountain. In fact we haven’t even been getting all that many below freezing nights, I think the coldest I’ve seen so far is 4 degrees, and I’m well above 7000 feet.
talk about the elephant in the room (or in the dirt): do tractors sleep on their side?
It sure has been a strange December with very high highs and real nasty lows. As my old boss was fond of saying; “it’s been up and down like a whore’s drawers.”
What’s with Ian’s abandoned back hoe? Looks shoddy just keeled over out in that nice landscape.
We lost more than 20 feet of land in one very eventful evening. The backhoe narrowly avoided becoming part of the wash. I could possibly get it back on its wheels by myself but can’t get it back on safe ground. I’ve had one offer to buy its hydraulic accessories but that person wasn’t interested in the tractor itself, and that’s kind of where things stand.
