What can I say? He’s a scratcher. Tobie is working on destroying his second bed – it’s only one year old and he has already clawed holes in it.
With the first one I let matters go until he annihilated the poor thing. This time I decided to take measures.
Took it apart and gave it a wash, then…
…after it dried I brought it home to assess the damage. I had intended to apply patches on the inside but that proved unworkable due to there being two layers of cloth. So I figured…
“Well, he won’t care.” And it kind of fits the overall decor, such as it is.
I really like these beds, both gifts from Generous Reader MM. They miraculously fit the available space between the wall and the Official TUAK Desk. But they’re not proving very durable – when this one finishes wearing out I’ll need to try something else.
Let me know when it’s time!
If you hang your trousers from the line by the legs, with the waist down, they dry with fewer wrinkles. Good idea to close the fly and smooth pocket linings as well for a more squared away look when they dry.
How about a cowhide cover for him to lay on? Or do you think he would chew it up? Leather is more durable than cloth.
I dunno. Maybe – he’s past his chewy hellpuppy stage, so that might be a good idea.
My retriever/pitt mix loves to scratch around. His day bed is a folded over heavy rug. On top is a fleece throw and an old towel. When he goes to nap, there is a lot of scratching and nose work involved until he has mounds in just the right places. You might give Tobie a couple of old towels. Wish they could talk. Julia
