How soon they forget: It’s not the crime that gets you, it’s the cover-up.

IRS Now Claims It Has ‘Lost’ Lois Lerner’s Emails
Government backs up everything. Everything. They’ve probably got back-ups of your emails. This is the IRS we’re talking about here. If you can’t produce whatever record they want, they can turn the screws to you. It’s practically an administration of anal accountants. Yet we’re to believe that it just lost two years’ of emails to and from the central figure in the agency’s worst scandal?

They took the hint from the EPA, which “lost” all its “supporting scientific data” for the PM2.5 regs it’s been inflicting.
…although…
This isthe IRS, the agency which has trouble upgrading IT systems even by feddie standards — as I recall, they were known to still be using some 8″ floppy systems not terribly long ago. It’s entirely possibly they saved the backup to some old format — like aforementioned floppies, paper tape, cuneiform on clay — and are unable to read them any more.
Always funny to hear congress critters complain about some government outfit being more corrupt and self serving than they are. They’re shocked, shocked that this could be going on and will no doubt round up the usual suspects.
It all has to get worse before it can change. Bring it on and find a place to hide-with the AR tucked safely next to you.
Expat, you’ve got to admit that it does require some effort to be more corrupt than a congresscritter.
Guess they don’t want to ask NSA for the emails.
Oh, now, that would be funny. If whatever oversight committee is pushing this subpoenaed the NSA for the missing IRS records – and got them… 🙂
I’m sorry, I can’t find the humor in this that you fine folks seem to be finding.
If I can’t produce 7 years worth of records at the beck and call of these twats, I can go to jail.
Yet they just lose stuff willy-nilly and that’s just fine. Must be nice to be the master.
