Uh huh.

I cut out the tree I uncovered yesterday and hauled it to the surface. With a nice sharp chain on the saw and some fairly straight wood to be cut, this was no big deal. Unfortunately it only served to uncover the next tree, which may have been pushed over by the bulldozer but had clearly been right there for maybe a couple of centuries…

And it’s a twisted mess, plus still partially underground. It did a number on my chain, and also wore me out. So I’ve got it largely cut up, but it’s still down in the gully and needs to be dragged out tomorrow.

Is that wood dry enough to apply an accelerant and burn it in place?
And, on saw chains, I’m wondering why you don’t sharpen them yourself.
Yes it is, no I won’t. J has a horror of brush fires equivalent to my fear of chimney fires. It’s the main reason he wants this tangle gone. Burning it out is out of the question.
I never got any good with a saw file. I can touch up a chain, but once it’s really beaten I need a grinder.
