I am reminded of the presidential campaign of that hep cat, William Henry Harrison…

That was in 1840, and in fact I believe Hillary may have been just barely old enough to intern on his campaign. So maybe this is where she got the idea. Harrison didn’t have a Youtube video, but he did have a campaign song…

I’m pretty sure that’s not the original tune, but you get the idea.

See WHH was an ancient, used-up old git who’d been around forever and never actually accomplished anything*. So he could hardly run on his real record. And he was as exciting in person as moldy drywall. So his campaign management kept him out of sight as much as possible and just made shit up.

Really, that’s the very first thing that came to mind this morning, when I attempted to watch this kickoff message from the Hillary! campaign…

I made it 48 seconds before I had to save my sanity by giving up. How far can you take it? And does Hillary ever actually appear in it?

And – dare I ask? – If she’s actually elected, will she make as good a president as Harrison? Because he’s really one of my favorites. 🙂

*Not true. I’m being unfair. He’s the guy who invaded Canada in the War of 1812. Technically the campaign was a success, though it did have unintended consequences.

Well, yet another hopeful threw his hat in yesterday. I’m still waiting for a candidate I can get excited about. From either side!

Surely America can do better than this!

  2. jed says:

I watched it all. Meh. Yeah, the old bat does make an appearance. She wants you to know, Joel, that she’s running for president because everyday Americans need a champion—and she wants to be that champion. And surely, that includes all of us gun owners, right? And I’m sure all the everyday Americans out there are glad that one of the upper crust has declared her amazing capacity to care for them, and their votes.

I’m trying to reconcile the notion that something can be both full of hot air and vacuous at the same time.

  3. Joel says:

Well, good. We need a champion. I’m happy she’s finally found her purpose in life.

  4. jed says:

Oh, I’m sure she found her purpose long ago. This is just the ultimate extension thereof. (But only because world Empress isn’t an open position)

  5. It’s actually a very GOOD campaign ad. It has absolutely no content, but there are a lot of handsome smiling family-type people and includes every possible demographic.

Hey, as long as you hit all the “inclusive” high-points, what else could a campaign ask for?

  6. Matt says:

She is probably being used as the distraction so the oligarchy can get their real choice through. That will be someone younger, malleable, with minimal agenda, no scores to settle, dynamic with an air of competence. j.Bush is being used as a distraction on the R side. I believe the winner will be Cruz or Rubio. Not based on true ability but to get us used foreign sounding names in the head post.

  7. Judy says:

    Matt, O’bummer wasn’t foreign enough?

  8. Joel says:

Heh. Yeah, a nation that will elect a Hussein at this point in its history is ready for pretty much anything along the lines of ‘foreign,’ I reckon…

  9. Paul Bonneau says:

Those guys over on Western Rifle Shooters appear to be warming up to Hillary. Who better to be running the show when the economy collapses?

We got a few revelations from her campaign manager in this youtube:
