    Yes, given the present atmosphere in the USA. That kid would admittedly be safer on the ground, so there are surely those who would call that criminal parenting.

    However, the unfortunate reality is that the world has changed since those innocent days. So to be honest, my own parenting style was more 24/7 in nature.

    Since the 1970s the world — at least the part of the world encompassed by U.S. cities and neighborhoods — has been getting safer.
