But the Lair’s front door does now have trim, and looks better than it has since 2009 when it went up. It’ll look far better still with some paint to cover my many carpentry sins.
Now if only I could do lettering, because I spent my morning thinking of all manner of things that could be painted on that trim cap. 🙂
Also I took an unexpected fall in a gully when my foot went out from under me. While I seem to have escaped any real injury I wrenched a couple of joints and gave my stump a bang. So tomorrow I may not be moving around much…
ALSO – wouldn’t you know it, just as I finish up today’s task what looks like a big storm is moving in. So I’m shutting things down here and battening for lightning.

I’ve always said that caulk is a trim carpenter’s best friend.
Joel, you’re the only one who will notice those “sins”. We call them witness marks, and they lend character.
Hey Joel, you didn’t happen to notice any Iraqi F16 jets crashing in your yard last night did you? Gosh, I hope the cattle were safe! Those cattlemen would have a heluva time collecting from Iraq.

Naw, that was very far from here. It’s probably illegal to threaten free-range cattle with falling F-16s.
A sign for the INSIDE of the lair:

Paint???? Joel, please end the suspense. What color(s) did you decide on? What graphics? All that lovely wall space, and what are you going to do with it?
Oh, yeah. Well, I don’t have the swatches on the wall anymore and anyway my camera sort of died so I can’t show you. But it’ll be green (a lighter green than the one originally discussed) with brown trim. So essentially, rather subdued. 🙂
