Impressive!

0630151239The live-trap has been tripped three times so far today, with no prisoners taken. So I tried something different, having just finished baking bread. Less than half an hour later my foe managed to snag the bread without tripping the trap.

I am impressed.

As will my opponent be, when he learns the hard way that I possess…string.

Ah, but do you have 122 thousand miles of it in three-inch lengths?

Yes*! And I use it for destroying household pests!

*by which of course I mean no.

    Regarding the new trap . . .

I’ve always used single-door traps. Early on I learned to put the bait clear down at the extreme end of the trap opposite the door so the critter HAS to walk over the trip plate. Works quite well.

Can the two-door trap be set with only one door open? Baited as I mentioned above might give you better results, but of course wouldn’t help if the mice steal the bait.

Just a thought. Perhaps you’ve already tried this.

    🙂

Well, it seems I’m going to have to try something else. This ruinously-expensive trap caught one squirrel within hours but the second squirrel is defeating it every time. As far as I can tell he has learned not to get all the way inside, so the door can’t latch down on him. Unfortunately it does not appear at first sight to be possible to set only one door.
