Wednesday, in which Joel receives good news…and then bad news.

Neighbor D is home! Heard last night he should be coming home today around noon, so I went by to say hey.

He looks pretty good for a guy who’s been in bed for five weeks. He told me he doesn’t even remember the first week of it, he was so sick. He clearly has a long way to go before he’s fully recovered, if ever. He’s on his feet, but really dragging. I should imagine he wore himself out just going outside to say hi to his horse – which he was just on his way to do when I arrived, and which seemed happy to see him.

I mentioned I was going from there to J’s house to finish some work there, and L said, “Yeah, did you hear it’s in escrow? The sale should be final in a week.” No, I hadn’t heard that. I heard there was a potential buyer, but that was a couple of weeks ago. Seems J&H’s place has a new owner. That’s great news for J&H, since it could have stayed in limbo for years. But it’s almost certainly not good news for me. I’ve really got to find a new regular paying gig.

Maybe the new owner would appreciate a person who is familiar with the workings and doings of that home. A “Howdy New Neighbor” note might help those thoughts along.

I’m glad your friend is doing better. Getting back home is a welcome relief from the hospital – I’m sure progress will come faster, as long as he doesn’t overdo it.

It’d nice to learn that D is on the mend. In these dark days any good news is appreciated.

New neighbors huh… I suspect that it will not be as bad as you think it may be. You could always contact the old owners and see if they would recommend your services. Or when they show up the “Howdy New Neighbor” note might help as Anonymous suggested. Who knows it just might be the start of a beautiful friendship…

Yes, I certainly hope J&H give you a glowing recommendation as the local “go to” guy, along with a brief history of your past “services” and recompense therefore.

    🙂

If you were able to plant the herd o’ cows – with bull – there before NewGuy arrives, then show up and expedite them off the property, NewGuy might be appreciative of your wild range skills.

    Just sayin’…

Hm. That could actually be done.

Of course it would be impossible to keep them from coming back

    . . . thus requiring your continued services . . .

    😉 😉 😉
