LB used to let me ignore him for half a day at a time. Now it’s just him and me, and if I spend too much time on the ‘pooter with my back to the world I can expect to feel a chin on my knee once an hour or so. Just making sure I’m all right.

And if you really want to break his spirit and destroy all his faith in humanity, just try to explain there’s no room in the Jeep for him this time so he has to stay in the Lair alone. Yeah, I did that this morning and was made to understand that I am a very bad person.
But it’s really easier just having the one dog around. I don’t have to negotiate with him, anything I want to do he wants to do, I don’t need to always be arranging to have two of everything that needs to be consumed, and he gets the shotgun seat for the first time in his life which is, like, OMG SO COOL.
Went to visit S&L this morning on some business and Ghost was all, “Oh how good of you to drop in, please don’t make yourself a stranger and do be careful on your trip AWAY.” He’s living la vida loca, baby. The funny thing is L telling me all about how protective he is on their morning walks. “Oh, yeah, he never lets me out of his sight. If he gets a little ahead he’s always looking back to make sure I’m still there…” Uh huh. On our walks, I was usually surprised to catch many glimpses of him. It’s a lifelong dream come true for our Ghost. He loves his Auntie L.

I’m glad that it’s working out for you and LB. With everything going on it’s nice to read something a little different from the usual politics on the web.
And apparently it’s a lifelong dream of LB to be your once and only doggie . . . a dream now come true.
🙂
Well, they got along okay but never really were close.
Proof, once again, that subtraction can be additive.
If not for spoiling, what’s a dog good for?
