Added benefit: Banning cars would harm men more than women. Seriously.
The idea of reducing the number of cars in Swedish cities was backed last month by Sweden’s environment minister, who argued that driving is a gender equality issue as well as a matter of shrinking the nation’s carbon emissions.
“Cars are driven largely by men so by giving a lot of space to cars; we’re giving a lot of space to men — at the expense of women,” Karolina Skog explained.
I’m going to move further into the boonies. These people are nuts.

Well, sure, even if you don’t own a car we can probably agree that it ought to be all right to have say, a Cooper Mini, like it says in the Constitution; but there’s absolutely no need for people to just go out and buy a huge vehicle like a big truck.
Especially an Assault Vehicle — a big black truck with knobby tires — which are known to be far more deadly.

I am not completely certain about the motives but Europe is in a sweat over getting rid of cars in their cities to make them “GREEN” like Oslo, Norway which has just started the process. Stockholm is orgasming over doing it by mid-next decade and I strongly suspect that all those other “GOOD” reasons are any windfall problem with autos being used to reinforce the necessity of all the additional money that will be milked from the citizens to pay for the liberal wetdream. Think of Calif’s train to nowhere and all the hot air that “justified” that.
