Racing the Thunder Boomer

After days of other things getting in my way, I started early this morning and knocked out the last four holes for the bedroom footers. Then I drove the backhoe to Landlady’s, fixed a spot in her driveway that’s been bugging me, and dug about 40 yards of irrigation trench. With the tiny little backhoe that meant moving the tractor every few minutes, which became extremely tedious and took more time than I expected. Just as I was finishing up I looked and saw that my cloudless sky was, to say the least, gone. With the engine off I could finally hear the thunder.

Got the tractor back to a safe place, got LB his noon walky, and now it’s time for a wash and some lunch. If we get enough rain to damage my holes, I’m going to be extremely upset. But after these cells pass maybe I can get to work on forms for the lower concrete pads. If things go fantastically well I can pour forms tomorrow, but the weather forecast says it might be wiser to wait till Saturday.
