California AG Threatens To Prosecute Private Citizens Who Help ICE Enforce Laws
Weirdness in America. First it’s forbidden, then it’s “tolerated,” finally it’s mandatory.
Speaking at a press conference, Becerra said, “It’s important, given these rumors that are out there, to let people know – more specifically today, employers – that if they voluntarily start giving up information about their employees or access to their employees in ways that contradict our new California laws, they subject themselves to actions by my office.”
What this move will do is force employers to vigorously background check prospective (and if they suspect anything out of the ordinary, current employees) to make sure they are legally able to work. Failure to do this will see employers end up in that rock and a hard place situation potentially losing everything which is something no sane business person would want. In the end the group that will be between a rock and a hard place will be the illegal immigrants unable to support themselves and their families. Desperate people do desperate things.
Prior to the 2016 election, when it began to look like Trump would actually win, you saw a huge uptick in illegal aliens self deporting…they were afraid of being caught and shipped back. I personally think that this increased enforcement by ICE is to encourage more of the same.
California cannot allow 50% of their tax and voter base leave, so they are desperately trying to say “It’s OK, please stay!”. Yes, I did say tax base…even illegals working with pilfered or fake SSNs pay the .govs of both CA and the Fed with the automatic witholding for income taxes, SS, and Medicare, with the added bonus of no one to claim a tax refund for that income.
