You know what I hate?

I hate breaking in a new email address. It means I have to figure out all over again how to get Thunderbird to admit it exists.

I seem to have correctly guessed what the “incoming server” wants to be called this time, but it’s demanding a password. Whatever this alleged password is, it’s neither the cryptic one joelsgulch.com originally came set for nor the new one I set it to. I’m reduced to going through every possible combination of letters, numbers, symbols and uppercase/lowercase in the entire literate universe.

The good news is that my incoming mail is now safe from NSA, DHS, ETC. The bad news is that it’s also safe from me. Seriously, I go through this every single time. I’m so damned clueless with this “computer” stuff: I’m going back to clay tablets and an abacus, like we had when I was young.

  1. I have been waiting for you to get the door open on this joint so I can add you to my Blogroll.
Congratulations on the move and good frikkin’ luck with that password.
That happens to me all too often.

  2. I like the new digs. And I’m with ya on the tablet and abacus : )

I gave up on email clients altogether when I began using a proxy service. Their webmail does everything I need in addition to the privacy features. Recommended.
