I have a bridge over the drainage ditch for the gully behind the Lair. It used to be for the burning barrels, and now it’s for the woodshed.

Since I traditionally knock them together out of whatever’s lying around, they never last more than a year or two. And this one’s about done.
This spring I figured I’ve got more substantial materials left over from the porch roof and floor projects, so I really ought to build a more substantial and maybe slightly better-looking bridge.
Never got around to it before today, but I need to bring the cutting table back to the woodlot for winter firewood cutting and before that it was time to knock out this little project.
The Lair’s inverter is only 600 watts and so won’t run power tools even for the few minutes the batteries would last, so in past years I’d have had to measure carefully and haul all the tools and materials to a place with a bigger/badder electrical system.
But…

…thanks to a Generous Reader about two years ago, those days are gone. 🙂

I’ll have to work on the dirt ramp as it packs down. Could have done more along those lines but that and cleaning up was all the project work the old man felt like doing right now. It’s time for afternoon chicken chores.

That is a GLORIOUS bridge. I predict this one will last more than a year or two. Kinda gives you a warm ‘n’ fuzzy feeling all over when you finish a project, doesn’t it?
Very nice work Joel. A little water proofing and it will last a lot longer than the others.
600 watts? I thought you had previously said it was 1000 watts.
I may have mistakenly said that but don’t recall doing so. It’s always been 600 watts.
If it went over a body of water filled with furry creatures that consumed quadrotriticale, it would truly be a bridge over tribbled waters.
Good work.
