Almost a week, and the chickens were still cooped up in their little – coop.
Reason being, I wanted to roof over their yard with chicken wire before letting them out.
“Chickens can fly, you know.” That was Ian’s parting shot on helping me move Landlady’s coop to the new temporary fenced yard.
Well…I was aware they have wings. So do ostriches. But I’d already determined I needed wire across the top, to keep hawks and such out. It hadn’t occurred to me it might be needed to keep the chickens in.
So yeah, needed to roof it with wire. But there was no place at the front of the yard to fasten the wire. I needed a crosspole, and could not for the life of me figure out how to properly fasten one.
I finally decided no proper way was available. And that’s why the Gods of country living invented duct tape, I guess.
Yup…
Hey, the chickens don’t care.
