Heh. Sometimes I feel like a real materialist. I’m not sure it’s a bad thing. Material-related things are on the brink of happening, and they cheer me up.
I got an email from a friend, warning me of an incoming care package. I have no idea what’s in it or when it’s coming and don’t even care. Anticipating care packages lightens my heart, like I was a little kid. Isn’t that weird? I’m a grizzled, smelly, maladjusted old hermit pushing sixty, and Christmas shouldn’t mean anything. But sometimes it does anyway. Maybe that’s why they put Christmas in the middle of winter.
And I’ve got positive developments on a couple of hard-need issues. All week I’ve been working on a keyboard gig that has turned out a lot bigger than I expected, and so it looks like a couple of hundred unanticipated bucks will be coming my way. The concrete blocks didn’t cost as much as I feared, so there’s still some cash in the bank. Early next month I’ll be working on new glasses, which probably won’t cost all that much. Everything that’s left from that will go into the fund for my new stove and stovepipe, and maybe I’ll even be able to do that this winter. That would be cool.
