They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means "The Ultimate Argument of Kings," and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. "We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it's about: You'll do as I say or I'll send my goons to kill you."
I thought about that for a long time. If there's an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I've got bullets - he's got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that's not going to happen. So if there's an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain't bullets.
It finally came to me - and that's when I left the city, abandoned a goodly percentage of my goods, and gave all that was behind me a good, stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

"Authority should derive from the consent of the governed, not from the threat of force."
- Barbie - The...average man's love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary, exactly like his love of sense, justice and truth. Liberty is not a thing for the great masses of men. It is the exclusive possession of a small and disreputable minority, like knowledge, courage and honor. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty – and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies. – H.L. Mencken, Baltimore Evening Sun, Feb. 12, 1923

Thing is, Mr. gun grabber… you don’t get to choose for me… And my right to life and liberty, to the defense of those, predates both your opinion and the second amendment by about as long as human beings have existed.
The lady is exactly right. Next question… why is she still living there? Choosing to remain helpless is possibly even worse than being forced to live that way.
Now I’m confused. First video I saw included a gun grabber and the lady. When it was done, it was replaced with one about a knife… obviously a spoof. Which one did you post?
I posted the spoof. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout no lady, officer.
Weird. That’s been happening more and more, and not just here. Quite often the video visible is NOT the one that was posted, but something else. After I play that one, then the right one appears… or not… sometimes I can’t tell. Claire is having problems with videos too, I gather.
I don’t often bother to play videos since I can’t understand what they are saying much, but I do try to watch those you and Claire post. Oh me…
I’m seeing that here, but haven’t noticed it elsewhere yet. Sometimes I can get the proper video to load by hitting the reload button 4-5 times. SOmetimes I have to close the browser and try again. A lot of the time I simply give up.
Comments are freaking weird, too. Very occasionally, I can post on the first try. Sometime I have to reload several times. Other times, I start getting cross site scripting warnings and I can’t post at all until I disable NoScript (and sometimes that doesn’t work). A lot of the time I just give up on commenting, too.
Some of this works a _little_ more reliably with Internet Exploder… but not always. So it isn’t just a Firefox compatibility issue. And it’s rarely exactly the same symptoms, so troubleshooting from my end is virtually impossible.
Now to see if _this_ comment can be posted…
It posted! And it only took disabling NoScript, and then reloading 4 times.
The Manson Family committed their murders with Buck knives, as I recall. There was a time when every working man and hunter in the US carried one on his belt.
