Ian’s still here, Landlady having headed for home. Ian doesn’t want to leave until he can get all his fruit trees in the ground, but the second box was delayed and won’t be here until tomorrow earliest.
He’s working on a couple of pistol videos, so we spent some time this morning shooting footage. An old Czech military pistol that’s exactly what you’d expect, and a brand-new Boberg that’s got the most amazingly hilarious design flaw I’ve ever seen in a long, eventful life full of fail. You’ll just have to wait for that one, which I don’t believe will show up on FW. Ian’s branching out. I’ve said before he’s likely to end up being remembered as the Elmer Keith of the 21st century, and still stand by that.
After that bit of fun he came along with me for shit-shoveling. J gave him a can of Pepsi which was a tactical error, because both Comet and Belle are addicted to Pepsi and wouldn’t leave him alone till he finished it and crushed the can.
Dropped by Landlady’s house to see how our work was looking…

The new stucco will probably blend better when it’s completely cured.
Among the troubles of the long weekend, the Jeep has started to show low to no oil pressure. Never a good thing. A bit of research told me it’s a common problem, and can either be caused by a bad sender or sludge in an oil gallery. My redneck pressure gauge (the dipstick) says the engine still has substantial pressure, and other signs tell me the problem is probably the sender. J was going into town this morning and owed me thirty bucks, so he agreed to go to the auto parts store and order me one. Won’t be in till tomorrow. I’m reluctant to use the Jeep till I’ve fixed it, for obvious reasons, so I’m a bit stranded just at the moment. Just as well, since I’m low on fuel anyway.
Ian asked me if I wanted a ride back to the Lair but it’s such a beautiful warm day I wanted to walk. The boys were in Gitmo, but LB’s been so much better about running off that I decided to chance taking him and Ghost for a walky home. If they disappointed me I’d have a real problem, transport-wise, but they didn’t. They had a good time running around and working up a sweat, but stayed mostly within sight and gave me no problem.
Now I’m gonna take the rest of the afternoon off. Read a book, maybe take an old-man nap.
ETA: Ian wanted to check the pump, and that turned out to be smart. Don’t know what it is but we’ve got pump problems. When we first checked it the flow was only about 1/4 gpm. We tried to pull it out of the shaft and couldn’t. When we wired it up again we couldn’t get any flow at all.
Hope to try pulling it out again tomorrow.

Hey Joel. . .
Car parts? Go to http://www.rockauto.com and pay, including shipping, about half what the local guys want and it is delivered by a uniformed employee of FedEx, UPS, or the USPS, if you have a delivery address way out yonder.

Shot it with lightly-crimped loads? Speer Lawman or CCI Blazer, perhaps? Rounds disassembled themselves in the feedway?

That’s the one. 🙂
So, like me, you didn’t RTFM? 😉
(Boy, was my face red. 😮 )
Hey, I never even saw the manual.
Besides, it’s a dumb problem to have.
