Yay! It wasn’t there yesterday, but as of this morning I’ve got actual running water in the Secret Lair! Also I think I fixed the Jeep, though I’ll have to put a few miles on it to be sure. Got my peach tree planted yesterday afternoon and this morning I was actually able to water it in the prescribed fashion instead of hauling water in bottles. Which would have been much more difficult without the Jeep.
Clearly the laborious repairs Ian and I made to the well yesterday morning are having an effect. Water is present in the cistern. Next question: Will it stay there when we open the valve to Ian’s Dome? Or was there more than one subterranean leak?

I had no idea rural living was so filled with drama.
Neither did I. Curiously it doesn’t seem to get much better even with people who know what they’re doing, though I’m sure it helps. When you’re just winging it like me, expect to careen from one damn thing to another. That’s pretty much what this past week has been about.
You have my sypathy. Going three days without electricity in subzero weather is something I”ve done more than once; not a huge deal. However, one thing after another as you’ve done is not something I want to face. Hang in there.
Oh, I whine. But no sympathy is required. I knew the job was dangerous when I took it. and most of the time it’s really pretty placid.
