I visited the big henhouse early today, to see if Agnes the Red would be staying there or visiting the stewpot. I found her perched on the upper rank of nesting boxes where she had very recently deposited an egg (which is incidentally the first egg ever laid in the big henhouse.) She seemed none the worse for wear, so I left her be.
Her victim isn’t looking nearly so good, but at least she’s eating so she hasn’t turned her face to the wall just yet.
I gave the ‘pooter a rest for the bulk of the day because we were supposed to get a storm front rolling in. But it seems to have been unavoidably delayed, which means the batteries got a nice, deep early charge. I’ve been running around doing chores at neighbors’ houses, and went to town with D&L to buy some propane. And now it’s time to bake bread, so off goes the computer again. Some days I don’t really care what’s happening out in the world.

Yeah, finally got to float here – after 2 weeks. Nice feeling ain’t it?
