Scary Manifesto that keeps getting pushed down on the sidebar by filthy capitalism!
They say that Louis XIV had the inscription Ultima Ratio Regum cast into all the cannon of the French Army. It means “The Ultimate Argument of Kings,” and that always struck me as one of the most honest and up-front things any ruler or would-be ruler ever said. “We can dress it up prettier than this, but when it comes down to the unvarnished truth this is what it’s about: You’ll do as I say or I’ll send my goons to kill you.”
I thought about that for a long time. If there’s an ultimate argument, it seems only logical that there must be an ultimate answer. For years I thought the ultimate answer must be the bullets in my rifle, but it never seemed quite right. I’ve got bullets – he’s got frigging Cannon Balls. I mean, if there were three hundred million rifles throwing bullets at him, then maybe. But we all know that’s not going to happen. So if there’s an ultimate answer to his ultimate argument, it sure as hell ain’t bullets.
It finally came to me – and that’s when I abandoned the city and most of my stuff, and gave all that was behind me a good stiff Randian Shrug.
The ultimate answer to kings is not a bullet, but a belly laugh.

Hmmm. Dunno, I’d have to see that up close and personal. So when’s it coming to SHOT?
As soon as they have a US-compliant semiauto FCG and 922(r) parts. They also plan to bring over 1st and 2nd model repros of the FG-42 (in original form), plus StG-44s and MP-38s.
Thanks Ian, sounds very interesting. Maybe some will show up at SAR too, eh? Or as components, would be interesting to work on a DIY kit bash semi. 7.62×51 or 7.92? or?
Must…get….trading…material….sorted….out.
Here is a new one in .308 or 8mm. Other than the $5,000 price making me wait until the lotto numbers match……

Joel and I have both shot one of the SMG FG-42s, and they are very nice rifles. They are also able to bypass some of the legal issues, as they’re being made in the US.
C6 – They will definitely not be at SAR this year, but maybe next year. And I would be extremely surprised if they offer them in any form other them complete finished rifles. They’re in 8×57; I think a 7.62 NATO version is planned.
Ooooo nice!!! While I’m not a fan of rifles, that one does make me drool a little. (ok, quite a bit)
I want some. In .308 please. And somewhere closer to $1500 than 5k.
My first thought was “Cool!”
My second was to note how close that 8mm fireball would be to the tip of my nose. 😮
