Apparently the only thing scarier than a scary gun…

…is a picture of a scary gun.dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls

Tinley Park High School Principal Theresa Nolan said the new sticker reminding concealed-carry licensees that guns are not allowed in schools is alarming.

silly manGood news, though: Most suburban Chicago schoolchildren are holding up under the strain of passing a picture of a pistol’s silhouette reasonably well, though no doubt trauma counselors are standing by.

Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 spokeswoman Stacy Holland said the stickers have been posted at entryways to all four high schools with little fanfare. They are posted next to the stickers that remind students and visitors that smoking is not allowed and that hats need to be removed before entering the building, she said.

Then again… I suspect nobody is allowed to linger in the doorway long enough to read the signs…

And what’s the deal with no hats? They don’t have snow up there anymore?

I’ve seen signs at bank doors forbidding hats and sunglasses. I think it’s a facial recognition thing. It’s illegal to object to being inventoried.

Yep. My Bank has one of those signs up too. FWIW, I live with a hat on, and my glasses are photosensitive. I commented on that to the guy who runs the place, here a while back.

He laughed. Apparently, the Feds have requested (required?) them to post those signs. My comment to him was that if I have to take off my hat and glasses to come into the Bank, they have seen the back of me for the last time.

They don’t seem to bother to enforce it, anyway. Which is just as well.

Michael Z. Williamson has a somewhat more boring opinion on that: http://www.michaelzwilliamson.com/blog/item/so-i-saw-this-panicky-article

My god, it’s one of those scary assault black gun thingys. I’m traumatised for life lol. I am so glad I live nowhere near a city or even large town. Paranoia and the desire to control seems to multiply the closer you get to ‘civilisation’.
Glad to hear the eye is getting better btw.

Our local small hospital/med office building has two front entrances. One set of doors has the no weapons sign and the other set of doors only has a sign for no animals except service animals. Since I rarely carry my dogs around, guess which doors I use. If they don’t take themselves seriously, I can’t imagine why I should.

There are no “signs” on the doors at my bank. No nonsense about face recognition either. Which is a good thing since most of us are bundled up during the winter. They still seem to know exactly who I am every time I get up to the counter. Might be the gun in the holster. I try to keep that visible even when my face isn’t.
