And if we go someplace to dance, I know that there’s a chance you won’t be leaving with me…

I think my weekender neighbors S&L may have come up in the evening.

How do I know? I went out for a walkie with two dogs and came home with one. Ghost almost always slides off to check out his own interests, but usually hooks back up with LB and me long before we get home. Not today.

If things stay on schedule, S&L – or at least L – will be here full-time by the end of May. That’s the date from which I expect to thenceforth have only one dog, and the way he’s been behaving it’s as though he knows it.

Maybe I’m projecting. But he could at least act conflicted about it…

ETA: I guess they’re not around, because he did wander back home. But he’s back to barely acknowledging me.

My guess is that he will continue to visit. My dog gets obviously depressed the few times I’ve been gone more than a couple days, as in refusing to go on walks and barely eating. On the other hand, when she gets a visit from someone she used to see daily but now only sees occasionally she greets them with an absurd level of enthusiasm–a 75 pound 14 year old dog whining and moaning like a puppy.
