Day got busy early…

D&L wanted to go to the dump, of which fact they informed me while I was sleeping in this morning. So suddenly things got busy; I had to go to S&L’s and drop something off, tend chickens, walk dog, hitch up the trailer, coffee up,…

And for all that, this is all the garbage I could dispose of…

Because they had this much…

And it all had to somehow fit in here.

But the contents of that one garbage can were getting pretty nasty, like soon they would evolve and come looking for revenge on the guy who kept them locked inside there for so long. I wanted to avoid the fight to the death with the Toxic Avenger, so it was worth it to get that out of here, and anyway D&L aren’t as young as they were when they started this adventure and they can use help even when they don’t admit it.

So that’s out of the way.

Is there not a hitch receiver on the stern of that there tall truck?

Would not your trailer fit, attached thereto?

    Just wondering.

  2. Joel says:

He’s got a drop hitch, and probably a ball that would fit. But the electrical connections are all wrong, and anyway it would be like an elephant pulling a toy wagon; you wouldn’t even be able to see it over the tailgate.

I can’t tell you how lovely it is that you keep reminding me of the things I don’t miss from the forest house and prior days. Curbside trash pickup is such a luxury after 25 years of hauling trash to the dump.

  4. Joel says:

🙂 That’s right. Keep rubbing it in.

  5. Kentucky says:

Yeah, I’d assumed backing up would be a little tricky with the driver now having the trailer in view. Not knowing the route and manipulations required en route I can foresee difficulties but thought it might be worth the effort on “big load” days. BTDT 😉

  6. Kentucky says:

” . . . NOT having the trailer in view.”

    Fumble fingers . . .

  7. MJR says:

I see that we were both up early this morning although I suspect your version of early is different than mine. It’s too bad that your trailer isn’t big enough to be seen when backing up. I’ve found when doing dump runs that more space is a good thing.

  8. Ben says:

If you load the trailer high enough, you will be able to see it. Failing that, old broomsticks tied to the back corners does the job. Been there, done it.

  9. Mark Matis says:

Or if even the broomsticks aren’t tall enough, I bet is that 10′ sticks of PVC pipe would be sufficiently visible…

  10. Robert says:

Joel: I want you as my neighbor when I am old and decrepit. Oh, wait, nevermind.
Ben and Mark sound experienced. I usta be a trailer-backer-upper then the need went away. Thank dawg.
