Van Jones: “The Ebola thing is the best argument you can make for the kind of government that we believe in.”
Because if his guy was in charge, what happened in Dallas could have been avoided? No, that can’t be what he’s saying. If his guy was in charge of ‘the kind of government he believes in?’ That probably wouldn’t have helped either, but I do admit it’s a chilling thought.
For some reason, I’ve no idea why, I can picture a lot of inconvenient people finding themselves ‘quarantined’ in camps located in very inconvenient places under the benevolent rule of ‘the kind of government he believes in.” Just being paranoid, I’m sure.

I’m waiting with interest to hear what extreme civil libertarians have to say about the “Ebola thing”:
Is public health a legitimate concern of government?
What should be the limits of governmental authority to stop/prevent the spread of a deadly disease?
Should government “goons” really have the power to literally arrest and confine citizens because they are sick or have been exposed to a highly infectious dread disease?
If you think the answers to the above questions are easy, you probably haven’t given the problem sufficient thought. Myself, I stand conflicted.
I’m conflicted as well. I do have to stand that people who are sick with a deadly contagious disease and think they have the right to ‘mingle’ with others should be quarantined, even against their will. Their rights end where my rights begin in other words.
That dude up there on the video is getting on my nerves, sounds like one of those ‘we need to remove about 70% of the world’s population so we can prosper’. You first professor, m’kay ?
Yeah, but they’d be getting quarantined for transmissable, contagious political views, not for actually having a disease.
Van Jones is an abjectly horrible person. Luckily, he still hasn’t managed to gain any position of true power, no thanks to our democratically-elected president.

I’m actually relatively sure that Van Jones is an adherent to that particular philosophy. Not 100% sure, but i recall reading something that had him pinned for a “thin the herd” type not too long ago
