Is a nation still out there?

Kinda took yesterday off from the ‘pooter, to enjoy me a beautiful day. And yet, my conscience nags. With the horrid cut in the rate of the government’s essential growth due to be imposed upon us this past Friday, and the shocking predictions of death by starvation for all those dependent on Leviathan, I feel terrible pangs of guilt for sheltering in my snug little Lair while the nation suffers.

Have the cities burned? Are there enough left alive to bury the dead? I assume cholera, typhus and zombies rampage out of control, but are any of my friends still out there, still soldiering bravely on in spite of the heartless deprivation?

If you have the strength and your ObamaPhone can still find some feeble signal, send me a sign. The nation has gone so dreadfully quiet!

Don’t have an Obama phone but I did have a foot or more of wet snow piled on everything, including my solar panels. Been that way for two weeks now. Glad you had a nice, beautiful day. I feel one coming on, maybe this week or next. Still enjoying life though and still enjoying your blog. Thanks for writing Joel.

We’re still soldiering on and heartened by the knowledge that our all wise leaders are still getting their checks on time. Waiting an extra 2 weeks for my tax refund seems such a small price to pay when I see the selfless dedication with which our betters face their duties. May God give them what they so richly deserve.

Nothing happening here but a darn beautiful day. I even got to open some windows for a few hours and get some fresh air circulating. It was like drinking wine!! Supposed to snow again tonight, but they’re only calling for half an inch… Would rather it rained, actually, but nobody’s asking me. 🙂

Glad to hear you’re getting a break from the cold and snow yourself. Pretty soon we can all start to complain about the heat… And we’ll very soon be cursing at the mud everywhere. Humans do love a variety of things to gripe about, don’t we? LOL

The world never really comes to an end it goes on – just *differently*. (sigh)

You’ll not get rid of me that easily. Yep still here and “hangin in”.

It sure has been a pretty last couple of days. I sure hope that that remark hasn’t disturbed the weather gods who will now send more cold and wind and such.

Tinny rate … hugs and walkies to the “gang” and stay safe,

I haven’t been out since Friday, but a friend came up yesterday for some shooting and he didn’t report any disturbances. Guess the sound of gunfire kept the zombie hoards at bay. So life’s still good here in the forest, even predicting some more desperately needed snow tomorrow.

able2serve – Did they really announce a two week refund delay? How wonderful! Like anyone’s going to believe this tiny not-stealing/printing-quite-as-much-for-this-single-moment would strike at the very heart of IRS’s ability to do its essential job? Ha! That would be a great joke on the country. And so ham-handed.

“Are there enough left alive to bury the dead?”
I’m confused. Wht would I want to bury a perfectly fine food source? Particularly with a forecast of 3 to 5 inches of preservative for tomorrow and tuesday.

Two week refund delay? Dammit! I’ve been waiting two weeks! Where’s my money?! I need to buy a gun. Oh, wait, there aren’t any available at a sane price. Nevermind.

And I have a cold, too. Grumble mumble. Sigh.

The death and destruction are unspeakable but the media is suppressing the information for your own good. Stay in the Hermitage and I hope you are at least a five day walk from the nearest big city.

All’s well in NC,in fact I wouldn’t know that nothing was going on in Washington ,except they keep tellin’ us.
Don’t seem much different than usual.

For the past month every “news” channel and radio show has been filled with endless talk about what would happen if the sequester came to pass.

The aircraft carriers would stay in port.
The cops wouldn’t get more military weapons.
The DHS wouldn’t have as many drones.
The TSA would be short of gropers.
The bureaucrats would have less pay and less work (if that is possible).
Fewer wildfires set (to prevent wildfires, natch.)
    Fewer FBI agents.
    Fewer hospital visits.
    Less surveillance.
    Fewer wiretaps listened to/translated.
    Reduced spending on nuclear weapons.
    Less money for FEMA.
Reduced patrols for drugs coming in on boats.
$500 million less given to other countries to buy our weapons.
Fewer cases prosecuted by the US Attorney’s office.
    Smaller unemployment checks.
    Fewer OSHA inspections.
    Slower reporting of economic “data.”
    Fewer environmental compliance inspections.
    46,000 military-industrial complex jobs lost.
Most government programs will be cut

All of this time, I’ve been waiting for the list of BAD things that would happen…
