Last week while I was in the big town getting my eyes examined I blew the budget on frivolity. At Wal-Mart there were these double-feature DVDs of the Harry Potter movies in the sale rack, and I bought one of each.
I saw the earlier movies in the theater with my daughter years ago, but didn’t keep up with the later ones. So the last few films were new to me. And boy, did they get dark.
Anyway, in the later ones there was this villain:
Dolores Umbridge, Grand Inquisitor for the Ministry of Magic.
I’d never seen the movie before, but I swear that character seemed awfully familiar. Perhaps appropriately, it was while shit-shoveling this morning that it came to me where I’d seen that woman before. A chill ran through me. It all began to make sense at last!
Dianne Feinstein, Wicked Witch of the West.
So is Dianne Feinstein really a fictional witch dreamed up by an (obviously evil and demented) English author, or is Dolores Umbridge really an English witch pretending to be an American politician? Either way, it doesn’t look good for our heroes.
It occurs to me I’m probably not the first person to make this connection, just a few years behind the times as usual.

Nah. Two different people. Sorta. Dem Clones, you know. The GOP’s been doing it for years:

Maybe sisters in another life. But, unfortunately, there are far more than two of them. Some just don’t get to be quite as famous as others…
Bear, should it worry me that I don’t know who either of those people are?
Joel, yes. It should.
Ugenti is an AZ state rep who… Let Popehat tell you:

As one person put it, “[T]hey both got the looks but only her sister got the brains.”
Ayotte is a US senator from NH who made her political bones covering up bad shootings and beatings by cops. Her, I wouldn’t expect you know about. Ayotte may have a brain, but it’s purely redundant since she thinks and does exactly what the RNC tells her to think and do. And nothing else.
Oh man hilarious bit of coincidence. I was having this very thought yesterday after seeing the same said DVDs on the Walmart rack. But don’t worry she gets her comeuppances later on.
“But don’t worry she gets her comeuppances later on.”
Which one?
She turned me into a newt.
I got better.
What else floats?
