In what must have been a fairly major effort, Landlady and Ian brought the new generation of chickens to their new, spacious chicken house.
Still quite young, but fledging out nicely. (is fledging a word?)
Landlady has told me a couple of times what variety they are, but I keep forgetting.
Most of the boychicks will be going to rooster heaven in a month or six weeks, if we stick to the plan. But that should leave us with something like a dozen layers. Eggs for Everybody!

Very nice looking birds! Can’t tell what kind they are from the picture. 🙂
They are Buff Brahmas, with the exception of one extra chick we got whose breed is a mystery.
Fine looking flock! Do you have a way to keep snakes, rats, etc. from getting in through that gap under the door?
Buff Brahmas huh?
I thought they were Delicious Frier’s.
LOL!
Probably more like mediocre boilers, but they’re still made of meat.
Just stumbled across this “warning” video that’s hysterically funny. Be advised of your future fate. The Hazards of Backyard Chickens

Get some flagstone under that door pronto before the skunks find your fledglings…I lost 10 in 1 night to a skunk. Just bit ’em in the head & killed ’em dead.
And happy chicken herding. =0)
That door leads out into a fully fortified outside run, and we let it dug out like that so they can wander back and forth without the whole door being open and letting the coop get drafty. The door to get into the coop is pretty well sealed off.
