    Oh that’s classic!

    That said…
Whatever “went wrong” to cause gayness/gender confusion actually happened eons ago, and not just to the human race either. These folks have been around since the dawn of time. It’s just that folks are more open about it these days. That openness is likely because us westerners have (mostly) stopped jailing, or even killing them.

  2. Goober says:

Yeah, this isn’t anything new, or even anything specific to the human condition. There’s gender confusion in the animal kingdom, too, I’ve seen it myself.

I have a friend who owned a gay/trans horse, for instance. Come to think of it, i should probably write about that over at my place.

Anyway, when a stallion is around, a mare will get excited, hold her tail to one side, and flaunt her naughty bits in front of him. This gelding used to do the exact same thing.

He wasn’t right in the head. He used to pass out a lot, too, from excitement usually. I used to joke that I could hear him say “heavens to Betsy! I’m simply SWOONING!” before he did it.

That horse was fucking awesomely weird. And dangerous, what with the whole passing out thing.

In any case, I guess i can’t figure out what all the hubbub is about. Gays, trans, whatever else, they’ve been with us since before we kept track of such things. Acceptance of those things has waxed and waned over the years, depending on societies and how far the bug got stuck up people’s asses at any given time,

I’m with you on that. But even at my obvious remove, I must confess the hubbub is growing annoying. It’s not the ‘not awesomely weird’ people who are pushing the hubbub, but they’re the ones supposedly expected to accept the villain label and to do all the adjusting. Speaking as a member of the vast majority, my tolerance for this has limits.

  4. Goober says:

I get that. That’s kind of what I meant about “all the hubbub”.

Why, suddenly, is this taking center stage, and why, suddenly, are we all breathless about it?

Why are people suddenly bigots for believing that a woman can’t have a penis? For worrying about women who might be offended seeing another woman’s penis in a locker room? Why does the offense of one trump the offense of another?

I don’t get it. I think I’ll just try to follow my motto and “don’t be a dick”.

But that’s hard because it seems like everyone in the discussion is totally being a dick.

Goober asked: “Why, suddenly, is this taking center stage…?”

Because “somebody” is controlling the national conversation. If they can keep the masses occupied with this stupid shit that doesn’t matter, then the masses don’t notice the big shit that really does matter. And then those masses run to the polls to obediently vote for the entity that claims to “support their values” without thinking too hard about anything else.
