Remember that little prepping fail I mentioned over the weekend?
Well, yesterday at the big town I was in Lowe’s with D&L, where to my pleased surprise they sell battery clamps. So I dug out my soldering iron this afternoon and made the modification.
Tested it on the Jeep and it works great.
Then put everything away in its case before reviewing the pic, so you’ll mostly have to take my word for it.

I did that with mine, only to find the first time I needed it,(out in the boonies by myself, of course) that with it hooked to the battery I couldn’t reach the rear tires………Had to use a set of jumper cables to tie in. It now has a 8′ piece of old lamp cord patched between the clamps and the original cord….and, of course, it has been 20+ years & I haven’t needed it since! I tell ya it’s karmic.
As long as you have it with you . . . you’ll never need it. Karma, indeed.
This one comes with a slinky hose that’ll reach all the way to the trailer tires.
Speaking of that slinky hose…
After some use they can slip off a barbed fitting – a couple small band clamps took care of that once I got tired of trimming bits off the ends of the hose.
It looks like your compressor has some nice features that you don’t see in some of the el cheapos – the longer hose, higher PSI, etc.. I’ve burned through a few of the cheap ones over the years. A lot of them don’t have ready means of lubrication and will burn out with extended periods of heavy use. If it’s not an emergency I try not to run them at more than 10 minutes a stretch with a cooldown in between.
The ones I’ve burned out and taken apart had internals of pot metal for the pump barrel and piston. On the plus side – the little 12v motors inside might come in handy someday!
